TRAIN RIDE ON THE FLÅM RAILWAY -- FEBRUARY 10 -- MORE BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAIN SCENERY.
The train stopped at this waterfall spot for a picture taking break.
We had a six hour delay at Myrdal, at the end of the Flåm Railway line, where we transfered to the Bergen Railway. We learned during our wait that a derailment had occurred east of our location, related to the icy conditions. There was an automated PA system, all announcements in Norsk then English, that told us every 15 minutes that our train was delayed, as well as all the other trains on that line.

The Bergen to Oslo train is quite modern, electrically powered, smooth and quiet. It had some interesting facilities, which I saw on my way to the Dining Car to get us some dinner (the food was free, as compensation for our train being late; we had lamb stew with mashed potatoes and veggies, and a sausage - pretty tasty). There was a children's play area with brightly colored low cushions, toys, and children's books. There was a "Family" car duly occupied by families with kids of various ages. There were some sleeping compartments, showers, and private compartments with room for 6-8 people; some were playing card or board games. Our seats resembled airplane seats, and were pretty comfortable. The cars were a comfortable temperature. The WiFi worked well except when we were in tunnels.
