Alcazar of Seville

This fortress and palace, first built by Moors, is still used for ceremonial occasions.

The Moorish style interior decor was quite impressive, floors, wall, ceilings, and archways. Designs carved in plasterwork and wood with painted coloration, and colorful ceramic tile were everywhere.  The collection of tapestries and oil paintings was impressive.

Our first day in Seville, we could not visit it because of a ceremony attended by King Juan Carlos I and President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, and lots of security police, reporters, and sattelite link trucks.

Also, presumably to take advantage of the Press presence, the Postal Workers staged a protest against privatization.

Our second day, we could visit the Alcazar.
