Klein Cohen Family Reunion

Float trip on the Grand River - very relaxing - quiet and shady

Chris, with arm in sling due to shoulder injury, rides the river powered by SuperHubbie DAVID!

We followed the marked route for THE COVERED BRIDGES AND BARN QUILTS TOUR

The covered bridges were built in the later half of the 19th century. They have received extensive restoration.

BARN QUILTS are decorative patterns painted on barns and other buildings. Some of these served to alert Underground Railroad fugitives to the presence of a Safe House

This bridge over the Grand River is the largest covered bridge in Ohio

The bridge has its own quilt

Across the road from the bridge is the Grand River Manor, established in 1847

Some local flora - Thistle and Queen Ann's Lace

More BARN QUILTS

A covered bridge built by students at the local Technical College

Look who we met in downtown Geneva!

He has Superman Logos on his plumbing service truck

If you're not a member of THE PUBLIC, you had better not park here.

THE ASHTABULA MUSEM OF MARITIME AND SURFACE TRANSPORTATION

Located in the lighthouse keepers' residence, the museum features exhibits on Great Lakes industry and transportation, especially lake freighters.

The Ashtabula Harbor Lighthouse

The Christmas Menu from a Lake Freighter mess hall

An impressive piece of BEACH GLASS, apparently lost from a lake freighter

The DRAWBRIDGE over the Ashtabula River opens every half hour

Our front yard at Geneva-on-the-Lake, with lovely sunset views, views of boats on the lake, and a giant chess set (note the Ruy Lopez opening)

A KETCH - note the small sail on the aft missen-mast, the main sail, and the attachment lines for the jib and spinaker (not deployed)
