DAY TRIP TO WAIHEKE ISLAND, FEATURING WINERIES
The ferry ride to Waiheke was quiet scenic.
Waiheke (why - hee - kee) Island is a 40 minute ferry ride from downtown Auckland.
Arrived at Waiheke terminal. Our tour mini-bus driver Michael found us. We went to three wineries for tastings, then a fourth one for a tasting plus lunch with a choice of four entrees, all excellent.
The first is Mudbrick Winery
Te Motu ("The Island") Winery
Casita Miro Winery -- the owners are a physician and an attorney who decided on new careers -- one of them created the mosaics.
372 Restaurant, where we had an excellent dinner, with wine of course
Carol went across the shore road to the beach.
