Ercolano (Herculaneum) Excavations
This town was buried in 79 AD by the same eruption of Mt. Vesuvius that buried Pompeii. Mud flows buried Ercolano (versus ash and pumice in Pompeii), which may have helped preserve the site.ikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ercolano
