Guangzhou - Shamian Island

广州 沙面岛

Shamian Island, just off the north bank of the Pearl River, was an enclave of Europeans in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is connected to the city by a bridge. It was a pleasant, pretty low-traffic neighborhood for our hotel stay. On Shamian Third Street, a pedestrian-only street, there is a delightful collection of bronze sculptures, which continue into a Park along the river.
