Stockholm, Sweden, continued

The Vasa is ship that was built for the Swedish navy 1626-1628 under King Gustavus Adolphus.. The king insisted that an extra deck with additional cannons be added to the design of the ship. The top-heavy ship capsized and sank 10 minutes into its maiden voyage. Marine archeologists supervised the ship's recovery in the 1961 . The Vasa Museum in downtown Stockholm houses the reconstructed ship.

Aadjacent to the Vasa Museum is the Nordic Museum (Nordiska Museet) of Swedish and Scandinavian Culture, with exhibits historical and contemporary furniture, clothing, and a variety of folk arts.
